Lordrush Hero Gear & Forgehammers: Enhancement, Mastery and Ascension Explained

Hero gear is one of the biggest long-term power sources in Lordrush, and it has three separate upgrade tracks that confuse almost everyone at first. This guide explains each one, when it unlocks, and how to avoid wasting Forgehammers.
The basics
- There are 12 hero gear pieces: a Helm, Gloves, Chest and Boots for each of the three troop classes (Infantry, Lancer, Archer).
- Gear is upgraded on three tracks: Enhancement, Mastery (with Forgehammers) and Ascension.
- Separate from this, Mythic heroes have their own exclusive gear, upgraded with Widgets.
1. Enhancement (Gear XP)
Enhancement raises a piece's level using Gear XP. Mythic gear enhances from 0 to 100; once ascended, Red gear continues from 101 to 200.
2. Mastery (Forgehammers)
At Town Center 20, a Mastery Forging button appears. Forgehammers spent there raise a gear piece's Mastery level, up to 20. Mastery also gates how far Enhancement can go past 100.
3. Ascension
Gear Ascension raises the level and stats of an existing piece. It requires:
- A minimum server age (the help center says "certain days" without giving the number), and
- Enhancement Level 100 and Mastery Level 10 on that piece.
Ascended gear can then be imbued using Mithril.
Where to get Forgehammers
- Bear Hunt personal damage rewards: 2 Forgehammers at the 325K–745K tier, rising to 17 at 38.4B+. This is the most reliable recurring source. See the Bear Hunt guide.
- Fishing Tournament Sunken Treasure (every 4 weeks).
- Growth quests.
A sensible upgrade order
- Pick your main troop type and focus its four pieces first.
- Enhance freely; you can move XP back with the daily free reforge.
- Spend Forgehammers only on pieces you're committed to, since Mastery reforges lose half.
- Aim for Enhancement 100 and Mastery 10 on your key pieces so they're ready to ascend when your server allows it.

How do I use Forgehammers in Lordrush?
At Town Center 20, a Mastery Forging button appears on hero gear. Spend Forgehammers there to raise a gear piece's Mastery level.
Why can't I ascend my gear?
Ascension needs a minimum server age plus Enhancement 100 and Mastery 10 on that piece.
Can I get Forgehammers back?
A Mastery reforge returns only 50% of the Forgehammers spent. Enhancement reforges are free once per piece per day and return all Gear XP.
